Traveling to and from Dutch Harbor Alaska

The first step to working in the Bering Sea is getting there. Here’s everything you need to know about getting to Dutch Harbor, AK to work, and getting back home again at the end of your rotations:

There is no up-front cost for travel. The Bristol Wave HR team will arrange flights from your hometown to Dutch Harbor, adding hotels if needed. HR will send you all the flight info before you depart.
On your first rotation with BWS, the company will pay 100% of your flights, to and from Alaska. On future rotations the cost of flights will be deducted from your crew share at the end of the trip.
Always arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time. Checking luggage and getting through security can be slow, especially at peak travel times.

Hotels include vouchers for meals and are always paid by Bristol Wave – our crew does not pay for hotel stays & meals.
Most hotels have a free shuttle to and from the airport.
Sometimes flights get cancelled or changed because of weather, etc. The BWS HR Team is always available to get your travel plans back on track or find a last-minute hotel room.

Keep in mind that BWS cannot pay luggage fees – these must be paid with a credit card in person by the traveler. If you have checked bags there will be a fee each time you change airlines.
Never put anything of value, including medications, in your checked bag. Always carry these items with you.
Remember that when traveling to and from Dutch Harbor the BWS zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and drug use applies.
Employees who quit or are fired before completing a trip, miss a flight due to intoxication, or damage hotel property while traveling for BWS will be subject to additional travel charges.
